Replace your driver's license

If your driver's license has been lost or stolen, you’ll need to replace it as soon as possible. You must have a valid driver's license in your possession to legally drive.
The RMV will mail your replacement driver's license to your mailing address on record with 7-10 days. If you have not received your credential after 30 days, contact the RMV.

What you need   for Replace your driver's license

The quickest and easiest way is to order your replacement is online.  You will need to provide your:

  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • ID number or last 4 digits of your Social Security Number
  • Payment
  • Email address

Please note: a name change cannot be done online. An in-person visit to a Service Center is required to capture your new signature. You can make an appointment here.

The RMV is not offering replacement licenses at RMV Service Centers at this time. However, if you are a AAA member, you can make a reservation to replace your driver’s license at a AAA location. Visit aaa.com/appointments to schedule your visit.

If your driver's license will expire in less than a year, you can renew your driver's license instead of replacing it. 

You cannot cancel or return a duplicate license after ordering.
