If your driver's license has been lost or stolen, you’ll need to replace it as soon as possible. You must have a valid driver's license in your possession to legally drive.

What you need

You will need to provide your:

  • First and last name
  • Date of birth
  • Driver's license number or last 4 digits of your Social Security number
  • Applicable fee

If you are requesting a duplicate driver's license online, you will also need to provide an email address.

How to replace

You can replace your driver's license online. You will need your:

  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • Driver's license number or last 4 digits of your Social Security number
  • Email address

You can pay by cash, check, money order, credit card, and debit card. Since payment methods vary by location, check what’s accepted at the site you will be visiting.

The RMV will mail your replacement driver's license to your mailing address on record with 5-7 days.

If your driver's license will expire in less than a year, you can renew your driver's license instead of replacing it. 

You cannot cancel or return a duplicate license after ordering.
