Notice to Appear for Exam: March 10, 2023

Experience/Certification/Training & Education (ECT&E) Deadline: April 1, 2023

     Fire Captain Score Release Date: June 13, 2023
     Fire Lieutenant Score Release Date: June 14, 2023
     For those departments that participated in a weighted/graded examination, scores
     released: June 16, 2023

Experience/Certification/Training & Education (ECT&E) Last Day to Appeal
     Fire Captain: June 30, 2023
     Fire Lieutenant: July 1, 2023
     Weighted/Graded ECT&E Last day to Appeal: July 3, 2023
Eligible List Establishment Date: July 31, 2023

Examination Fee: $150
Location: Various sites across the state
Eligibility: This is a departmental promotional exam. Please refer to the exam poster/application for specific information.

    2023 Statewide Fire Lieutenant ECT&E Claim
    2023 Statewide Fire Captain ECT&E Claim

    Promotional exam candidates are required to file their ECT&E Claims; It is a mandatory exam component and will result in a failing score on the ECT&E component if the claim is not completed.  Supporting documentation will be accepted up to seven calendar days following the exam date by email: civilservice@mass.gov
  6. Score Release Date
         Fire Captain Score Release Date: June 13, 2023
         Fire Lieutenant Score Release Date: June 14, 2023
         For those departments that participate in a weighted/graded
         examination, scores released: June 16, 2023
       
    Examination results are issued by email.

  7. Experience/Certification/Training & Education (ECT&E) Last Day to Appeal
         Fire Captain: June 30, 2023
         Fire Lieutenant: July 1, 2023
         Weighted/Graded ECT&E Last day to Appeal: July 3, 2023

    Before filing an appeal regarding your ECT&E claim, please ensure that your submitted documentation supports the information referenced on your ECT&E claim.

  8. Eligible List Established Date: July 31, 2023
    When the eligible list is established you will be able to view your rank.

Note: Departments are listed on the specific poster or application for which they are participating in. Please locate the correct application that contains your department.

Definitions

1YP = 1 year of eligibility required in the eligible title
3YP = 3 years of eligibility required in the eligible title

10YP =10 years of eligibility required in the eligible title

Examination titles followed by:

(1YP), (3YP), and (10YP): The examination weights are: 56% Technical Knowledge, 24% Situational Judgment and 20% Experience/Certification/Training & Education (ECT&E).

(1YP-442): The examination weights are: 40% Written Examination (Technical Knowledge & Situational Judgement), 40% Assessment Center and 20% Experience/Certification/Training & Education (ECT&E).

(1YP-721): The examination weights are: 70% Written Examination (Technical Knowledge & Situational Judgement), 20% Assessment Center and 10% Experience/Certification/Training & Education (ECT&E).

(1YP-55/25/20): The examination weights are: 55% Written Examination (Technical Knowledge & Situational Judgement), 25% Assessment Center and 20% Experience/Certification/Training & Education (ECT&E).
