2023 Municipal Police Officer, MBTA Transit Police Officer and State Trooper Examination

This examination is being held to establish an eligible list from which to fill Police Officer vacancies in Civil Service Municipal Police Departments, the MBTA Transit Police in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the State Trooper vacancies in the Massachusetts Department of State Police. Please note that this posting includes information specific to the positions of Police Officer and State Trooper; please read carefully as the requirements for these positions may differ.

Exam Fees and Fee Waiver Information

Examination Fee for Municipal Police, Transit Police (MBTA) AND/OR State Trooper: $75*

Examination Fee Waiver Form Available Online

*There is an additional $50 late fee for applications received after January 17, 2023. Applications will not be accepted after January 31, 2023.

  3. Notice to Appear for Examination will be sent to candidates beginning March 3rd, 2023.  Date, time, and location of exam will be in the notice to appear.  Please make sure to check your spam/junk folder for this important email.

  4. Once you’ve successfully submitted your application, you’ll see a Click to Pay button. Click the button to pay for your exam. Be sure to pay for the correct exam.
  5. You’ll receive two confirmation emails when you’ve completed the process:

     an email confirming that your application has been received
    an email confirming that your payment has been received

    Your application is not complete until you have received both confirmation emails. Once you receive the successful payment confirmation email, you may ignore the option to Submit Payment which may still be displayed in your account.
