Key Dates for the Promotional Examination

Application Opening: January 13, 2025
Application Deadline: February 11, 2025
Notice to Appear for Examination: March 28, 2025
Examination Date: April 12, 2025
Score Release Date: June 6, 2025
Experience/Certification/Training & Education (ECT&E) Last Day to Appeal: June 23, 2025
Eligible List Establishment Date: TBD

Written Examination Fee: $150
Location: Various Sites across the state
Eligibility: This is a departmental promotional examination. Please refer to the examination poster/application for specific information.

  4. Notice to Appear for Examination: March 28, 2025
    Two weeks before the examination date you will receive a notice to appear by email.  The notice will tell you the location and the time to appear for your examination.  Please check your junk or spam mail folder for the e-mail before contacting this office.
  5. Examination Date: April 12, 2025
    Promotional examination candidates are required to file their E&E Claims; It is a mandatory examination component and will result in a failing score if the claim is not completed.  Supporting documentation will be accepted up to 7 calendar days following the examination date by email: civilservice@mass.gov
  6. Score Release Date: June 6, 2025
    Your examination result will be emailed.

  7. Experience/Certification/Training & Education (ECT&E) Last Day to Appeal: June 23, 2025

    Before filing an appeal regarding your ECT&E claim, please ensure that your submitted documentation supports the information referenced on your ECT&E claim.

  8. Eligible List Establishment Date: TBD     
    You can view your name and rank on the Eligible List.
