CARES for Kids Eligibility

Your child may be eligible to receive CARES services if they meet certain criteria.

Table of Contents

  • They are under age 21.
  • They are enrolled in MassHealth Standard or CommonHealth.
  • They live in community or home-based settings (including individuals temporarily staying in an institutional setting for less than 6 months) and have special health care needs that need ongoing medical care from multiple providers.
  • At least one of their medical conditions is progressive, malignant, or chronic and limits or interferes with their functioning in daily living.
  • They need help coordinating care between multiple providers.
  • They have housing, food, and/or educational concerns that impact their health.
  • All members under age 21 who are enrolled in the Community Case Management (CCM) program are eligible for CARES.

Talk to your medical provider if you think your child might be eligible for CARES or contact MassHealth directly at (800) 841-2900, TDD/TTY: 711. They can tell you more about this service and if it is a good fit for your child.
