How to get status updates
Once you have completed your online application for paid leave benefits, your employer has 10 business days to review it. Then your application is sent to the Department of Paid Family and Medical Leave (DFML) to approve or deny. While you are waiting, you can check the status of your application by logging in to your account.
Under Your applications look for Submitted applications, choose the application you want to track, and then choose View status updates and details.
This will show you more information about your application, including its status.
What your application status may mean
Approved: Your application for paid leave was approved by DFML. View the pdf at the bottom of the page, in the “notices” section, to see the amount you will be paid.
Denied: Your application for paid leave was denied by DFML. View the pdf at the bottom of the page, in the “notices” section, for more information.
Pending: Your application is being reviewed by either your employer or DFML.
Withdrawn: You have chosen to cancel your application. It is no longer going through the approval process.

Status updates for applicants who completed PFML applications by calling the contact center
If you applied over the telephone with the DFML contact center, you will not have an online PFML account. You will need to call the contact center to check on the status of your PMFL application by phone. You will receive notices about your PMFL phone application by postal mail.
If you would like to access your application online you can request to do so on the PFML application website. Once you log in or create an account, you can select “add an existing application” to have your phone application added to your online portal. You will need your application number, which starts with “NTN”.
