Solar for All Update

On August 7, 2025, the Trump Administration notified the Department of Energy Resources that it was cancelling the Solar for All program, including the $156 million in funding awarded to Massachusetts. As a result of this federal action, Massachusetts’ Solar for All program is on pause until further notice. We will continue to monitor the status of Solar for All funding and provide more information as it becomes available.  The Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office is challenging the EPA’s termination of Solar for All. More information can be found in this announcement.

Consumer Protection

Residents should be aware that organizations or salespeople may falsely claim to be associated with the Massachusetts Solar For All (MASFA) program for their own financial benefit. At this time, funding through MASFA is not yet available. All official partners of MASFA will be listed on the “About the MASFA Coalition” page(s). The MASFA Coalition will never:

  • Offer “free” solar installations, roof replacements, or other such home improvements;
  • Engage in door-to-door sales tactics;
  • Directly contact you to encourage you to engage in MASFA programming; or
  • Pressure you into engaging with MASFA programming.

If you believe you have been targeted by a solar-related scam, contact the Consumer Advocacy and Response Division (CARD) at the Office of the Attorney General online or at (617) 727-8400. For a high-level overview of solar in Massachusetts and what you need to know as a consumer, please see this FAQ from the Office of the Attorney General.

You can also report concerns to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Details about how to do so can be found on the FTC’s website.

All official communications about MASFA will come from organizations in the MASFA Coalition. To receive official communications about MASFA, please sign up for the official MASFA newsletter.

More information on how MASFA will embed robust consumer protections, including installer Codes of Conduct, program manual excerpts, and information on the complaints process, will be added here as they are developed.
