We provide funding to nonprofits, technical institutes, and community groups to train individuals for high-demand jobs through the following grant programs:

As an employer, you can collaborate with these organizations to hire skilled workers and build stronger talent pipelines.

On-the-Job Training

You can work with a MassHire career center to establish an On-the-Job Training program, funded by the federal Workforce Investment and Opportunity Act (WIOA), to help with the cost of hiring and training new employees.

  • Connect and Plan: Meet with a MassHire representative to discuss your hiring needs and determine OJT eligibility. Your representative will help identify pre-screened candidates who match your requirements.
  • Hire and Train: Select and hire a trainee through your standard process. Train them your way, using your equipment and methods, with a structured training plan designed for success.
  • Receive Support: Submit payroll records and monthly evaluations to receive reimbursement for a percentage of the trainee’s wages. Your MassHire representative will provide ongoing support throughout the process.
  • Develop Talent: Upon successful completion of the program, provide permanent employment to your trainee, gaining a skilled and valuable team member while strengthening your workforce.
