Creating career opportunities
The Empower to Employ program began as a conversation between Commissioner Amy Kershaw of the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) and Commissioner Toni Wolf of the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC). They were thinking of ways to help residents of the Commonwealth who needed support at home and were interested in exploring careers where they could flourish and succeed. With the agencies working together, they can provide opportunities for service seekers to live and work independently eventually.
The program, which has served more than 400 constituents, focuses on providing a solid foundation of services to provide support and then explore their path to employment with education and training.
