An Enterprise Digital Accessibility Policy Exception Request is a documented request to temporarily maintain or deploy a Digital Asset that is not fully conformant with the Commonwealth's Digital Accessibility Standards.
What Digital Assets will be considered for an exception?
Websites, web-based applications, mobile apps, archived web content, and electronic document libraries that meet specific criteria.
What Digital Assets will not be considered for an exception?
Mass.gov pages and content created using the EOTSS content management system, Social media content, all multimedia, individual electronic documents, emails, newsletters, and other forms of electronic communication.
Who can submit an exception request?
The owner of the Digital Asset such as product owners and project managers.
Who will be reviewing the exception request?
Exception requests will be reviewed by the Agency’s respective Secretariat IT Accessibility officer (SIAO).

When will I receive a decision after submitting my exception request?
within approximately 10 business days.
How will I be notified with a decision to my exception request?
You will receive an email in connection with your Service Now ticket.
If my submission is incomplete, how do I submit additional information?

What does “conditionally approved” mean?
A request that is “Conditionally Approved” means that the granted exception is conditioned on the implementation of the Mitigation Plan.
If my exception request is denied, can I submit an appeal?
No.
When does the exception expire?
The term of the exception is based on the type of exception and other factors.
Can I renew or extend my exception?
Exception renewals may be considered with a showing of remediation progress.
Does an exception granted through this process waive my Agency of its legal obligations?
No. A policy exception granted through this process does not constitute a waiver of legal obligations established under state and federal laws.
