It’s easy to learn to fish. With some basic information and some simple gear, you’ll be ready to hit the water and practice. MassWildlife offers virtual tutorials, freshwater fishing maps, and helpful fishing tips to give beginners the confidence to start fishing.

Hunting classes
Basic Hunter Education
Learn to be a safe and ethical hunter. All first-time adult hunters must successfully complete a Basic Hunter Education course.
Learn to Hunt
MassWildlife offers hunting classes and a variety of online tips and how-to videos to help hunters improve their knowledge and skills. If you've completed Basic Hunter Education, consider taking a species- or implement-specific class. You can also learn at your own pace by browsing our hunting skills library for tips on scouting, gear lists, hunting techniques, and meat preparation.
Youth hunting programs
MassWildlife and partners, provide opportunities for youth hunters to learn and practice ethical, safe shooting and hunting. Minors between 15-17 must successfully complete Basic Hunter Education.
