We believe DEI must be embraced, embedded and championed across our agency. From our Employee Resource Groups to our Diversity events and learnings, we have a growing number of tools and resources designed to meet the needs of our diverse workforce. This is a place where you can feel like you belong, bring your whole self to work and contribute to making the world a healthier place.

The importance of an ERG

Joining an ERG gives you the opportunity to contribute to a diverse and inclusive work environment in intentional ways to give back, and educate. These employee led groups foster cross-agency connections among employees whose paths might never cross during the course of a regular workday, which builds a sense of community and helps drive personal and professional development.

Read on to see how each ERG is driving growth and improving lives:

Pride ERG

The PRIDE ERG is focused on community building activities and actions that foster an accepting and affirming work environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, and allied people. The PRIDE ERG provides an inclusive and open environment for all members.

Women's ERG

The goal of Women's ERG is to strengthen women in the workplace through educational programs, partnerships, and events that provide information, connections, resources, and opportunities. Educational, mentoring, and volunteer initiatives created to promote empowerment to develop leadership and networking skills for continued industry success across MassDOT/MBTA.

Access and Inclusion ERG

Access & Inclusion provides a space for employees with disabilities and allies to meet, network, and share challenges and successes in the workplace. The group offers information, support, education, and mentoring opportunities to promote workplace empowerment for MBTA and MassDOT employees living with disabilities of all types, including disabilities that may not be apparent to others.

Multicultural ERG

The MulticulturaL ERG is an inclusive gathering of employee's intent on exploring and advancing the cultural differences that shape the workforce of MassDOT/MBTA. While raising awareness around diversity and inclusion, the group provides a pathway and voice for employees to express their ideas through innovative thinking and discussion to help strengthen the future of MassDOT/MBTA. This is an exciting opportunity for employees of different cultural backgrounds to explore new ideas for a more inclusive community within the organization.

Veteran's ERG

The Veteran's ERG is focused on bringing together employees that are current or former members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and the Coast Guard. We are excited to invite participants with experience from the active duty, the Reserve, or the National Guard, and all are welcomed and encouraged to participate. Whether you have served one tour, or made the military a career, our group is focused on bringing together old friends, and providing a forum to make new friends.
