Little Cliff Pond is located in Brewster, MA. Get a depth map of the lake, along with information about fishing access and the fish population.

Description

Little Cliff Pond is a 36-acre kettle hole and Great Pond located off of Flax Pond Rd. within Nickerson State Park in Brewster. Little Cliff Pond has an average depth of 14 feet, a maximum depth of 37 feet, and good water transparency, extending to 18 feet. The bottom is composed of sand with mud in the deeper areas and aquatic vegetation is common particularly along the shoreline edges which are bordered with bullrushes. The 1.3 miles of shoreline are wooded and undeveloped.

Recreational access

the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) manages a paved ramp suitable for launching cartop boats and light trailered craft off of Flax Pond Road (get directions). Parking is available near the ramp for approximately 40 cars; a fee may apply. The entire shoreline is accessible vis trails in Nickerson State Park. Please contact DCR offices of Nickerson State Park for additional information, fee structure, and/or restrictions pertaining to public access of Little Cliff Pond.

Fish populations

The following fish species were found during MassWildlife surveys:

  • largemouth bass
  • smallmouth bass
  • yellow perch
  • brown bullhead
  • pumpkinseed
  • golden shiner
  • banded killifish

Little Cliff Pond is stocked each spring and fall with trout.

Fishing

Due to its small size and undeveloped shoreline, Little Cliff Pond can be easily fished from shore or by wading. Fishing for trout is popular in spring and fall but between July and September look for trout to be in about 24 feet of water and over springs. While stocked trout are the primary focus here, a good population of largemouth bass is present as well. Some smallmouth bass are also caught each year. Little Cliff Pond has produced largemouth bass, chain pickerel, bullhead, yellow perch, brook trout, and tiger trout that meet the minimum size for recognition by the Freshwater Sportfishing Awards Program.
