Discrimination Is Against the Law
The Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER) complies with applicable state and federal civil rights laws and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, age, disability, religious creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender stereotyping, genetic information, or veteran status. DOER does not exclude people or treat them differently because of race, color, national origin, ancestry, age, disability, religious creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender stereotyping, genetic information, or veteran status.
Federal Law – Title VI/Nondiscrimination Protections
DOER complies with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and other applicable federal statutes and regulations in the implementation of its programs. Title VI prohibits discrimination in federally assisted programs and requires that no person in the United States of America shall, on the grounds of race, color or national origin (including limited English proficiency), be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance. DOER also provides meaningful access to its programs, services, and activities to individuals with limited English proficiency, pursuant to the US Environmental Protection Agency guidance on Federal Executive Order 13166.
State Law – Nondiscrimination Protections
DOER complies with the Governor’s Executive Order 592, section 4 requiring all programs, activities, and services provided, performed, licensed, chartered, funded, regulated, or contracted for and by the state to be conducted without unlawful discrimination based on race, color, age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, religion, creed, ancestry, national origin, disability, veteran’s status (including Vietnam-era veterans), or background.
DOER complies with the state’s Public Accommodation Law, G.L. c. 272 §§ 92A, 98, 98A, which prohibits making any distinction, discrimination, or restriction in admission to, or treatment in a place of public accommodation based on race, color, religious creed, national origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, deafness, blindness, or any physical or mental disability, or ancestry.
