Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles Fees

Fees for Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) transactions in Massachusetts.

Table of Contents

This list of RMV fees is current as of its last update in January 2022.

You can search each of the sections below for individual fees.

By law, the RMV is required to collect the fees for the transactions listed on this page. Most fees are set (or amended) by regulation as issued by the Executive Office for Administration and Finance.  Some fees are set directly by statute, usually in Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 90, Section 33.

All fees are subject to change at any time. All license fees are non-refundable.

Disabled Veterans do not pay any fees for driver's license transactions if they have Disabled Veteran plates or if they have qualified for Disabled Veterans plates.
