How MassHire Career Centers can help you

Can you help me find a job?
Help is available at MassHire Career Centers located throughout Massachusetts.

Can I look through job listings on my own?
You can check out jobs online by using MassHire JobQuest. This will give you free access to jobs throughout Massachusetts and the nation.

How do I schedule a Career Center Seminar?
You can schedule your seminar online through MassHire JobQuest or by calling 1 (800) 653-5586, or by contacting a MassHire Career Center near you.

What other services are available?
You can get help with polishing your job-search skills including preparing for interviews, writing your resume, and developing a network of contacts. You can also learn about available training opportunities.

Are all services free?
Most services are provided free-of-charge. Some MassHire Career Centers do have enhanced services for which they charge a fee. Check the MassHire Career Center Profiles for a description of services.

Can I go to any career center?
Yes. However, it may be in your best interests to visit the center serving your community. MassHire Career Centers are located in every major city in the state. Some centers have branch or satellite centers. The services in each center have been designed to meet the needs of the communities they serve.

Can I get information about training?
MassHire Career Centers have training information. Also, you can conduct your own search for training providers listed in Massachusetts School information and check out our other online resources. 

What if I need more training in order to get a new job?
If you need new skills in order to become re-employed, you may be approved to attend training while you are receiving unemployment insurance benefits.

The Training Opportunities Program allows the Department of Unemployment Assistance (DUA) to waive the "active worksearch" requirement for claimants who meet certain eligibility requirements. This means that you can continue to receive unemployment insurance benefits while in agency-approved training. Application deadlines apply and you can consult the information available online.  Under certain circumstances, claimants may be eligible for up to an additional 26 weeks of unemployment insurance benefits while attending approved training.

Where can I get information on jobs and careers?
DUA publishes a variety of publications on jobs and careers. Copies of these publications are available in MassHire Career Centers.

I need help preparing for my job search. Is help available?
MassHire Career Centers have a variety of workshops available to help you conduct a successful job search.

Where can I get information on state and other public sector jobs?
MassCareers Job Opportunities is a comprehensive listing of current openings in state government. You can check available jobs at MassCareers Job Opportunities.

Are there specialized services for veterans?
Veterans' specialists located at MassHire Career Centers will help veterans to: organize their job search, design a personal employment plan, polish their job search skills, and develop job leads. Veterans' services are customized to Veterans' needs.
