How long does it take to register?

Registration depends on the complexity of the business and what role the registrant will be assuming. Most registrations should take a few minutes.

What are the username and password requirements for MassTaxConnect?

Your username can be 3 to 60 characters in length and cannot contain any spaces. You can also use your email address, provided it is 60 or less characters in length.

For security reasons, MassTaxConnect passwords are case-sensitive. Passwords must be at least 8 characters in length, you cannot reuse the last 12 passwords, and must contain at least:

  • 1 uppercase letter 
  • 1 lowercase letter
  • 1 number.
  • 1 special character.

How do I add an additional account type?

To add an account type:

  • Log in to MassTaxConnect.
  • Select the More… tab. 
  • Select the Add an account type/new location/new license hyperlink under the section. 
  • All tax types available will be listed.

How do I create an online account?

If you are currently registered with DOR and do not have an online account, you can create one by selecting Create my username hyperlink on MassTaxConnect.

You will be required to supply one of the following:

  • Amount due from 1 of your last 3 returns.
  • Amount to be refunded from 1 of your last 3 returns.
  • Letter ID from a letter that has been mailed from DOR, providing instructions on how to register.

How do I register for MassTaxConnect?

  • From the MassTaxConnect homepage, select the Register a new taxpayer hyperlink under Quick Links section.
  • Select the appropriate hyperlink for your tax situation and
  • Follow the links through the registration.

How do I create my username?

If you are currently registered with DOR, but do not have a MassTaxConnect account, you can create one by selecting the Sign Up hyperlink on the MassTaxConnect homepage. You will be required to supply one of the following:

  • Amount due from 1 of your last 3 returns.
  • Amount to be refunded from 1 of your last 3 returns.
  • Letter ID from a letter that has been mailed from DOR, providing instructions on how to register.

How do I add a Doing Business As (DBA)?

  • Log in to MassTaxConnect.
  • Select the More… tab. 
  • Select the Names and Addresseshyperlink.  
  • Locate the account panel that you want to add a DBA and select the Add hyperlink. 
  • Enter your DBA name. 
  • Select the Next button. 
  • Select the Submit button.

How do I edit a DBA?

  • Log in to MassTaxConnect.
  • Select the More… tab. 
  • Select the Names and Addresseshyperlink. 
  • Select the hyperlink of the DBA name that you want to change. 
  • Select the Change this name hyperlink.  
  • Enter your new DBA name. 
  • Select the Next button. 
  • Select the Submit button.

How do I add a mailing address?

  • Log in to MassTaxConnect.
  • Select the More… tab. 
  • Select the Names and Addresseshyperlink. 
  • Select the Addresses tab.  
  • Select the Add hyperlink for the account that you want to add a mailing address. 
  • Enter the new address. 
  • Select the Verify Address hyperlink. 
  • A pop-up window will display a list of possible addresses that match the information entered. 
  • Select the Selectthis address hyperlink for the correct address. 
  • Once verified, select the Next button. 
  • Select the Submit button.

 

How do I edit my address?

  • Log in to MassTaxConnect.
  • Select the More… tab. 
  • Select the Names and Addresseshyperlink. 
  • Select the Addresses tab.  
  • Select the Add hyperlink for the account that you want to add a mailing address. 
  • Enter the new address. 
  • Select the Verify Address hyperlink. 
    • A pop-up window will display a list of possible addresses that match the information entered. 
  • Select the Selectthis address hyperlink for the correct address. 
  • Once verified, select the Next button. 
  • Select the Submit button.

 

Please note that if the Change this address hyperlink is unavailable on MassTaxConnect, you cannot edit:

  • The address based on your Access Type or
  • The address based on the Address Type.

For example, Location Address cannot be edited. The tax account associated with the location must be:

  • Ceased and
  • A new location added with the proper address.

What is a Personal Identification Number (PIN)?

A PIN is a 4-digit number created during registration of a new business. When you contact DOR, you will need to provide your PIN in order to speak with a representative.

What happens if I lose or don’t remember my PIN?

You will need to contact DOR and a representative will ask some questions regarding your account before giving you your PIN.

Can I change my PIN?

No. Your PIN cannot be changed.

Will I be able to print my PIN when I register?

Yes. You can print any screen during registration. You can print the screen where you enter your PIN, or print the Confirmation page, which displays your PIN at the end of your registration.
