The Board of Registration of Physician Assistants oversees the practice and licensure of physician assistants in Massachusetts. The Board requires that all potential licensees have passed the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants examination, hold a bachelor’s degree, and have completed an accredited physician assistant program. These rules and regulations are established by the board to ensure the integrity and competence of their licensees. The board also investigates any complaints made against physician assistants in Massachusetts to ensure patient and public safety.
