Notice of Intent to Award Funds to the Sex Offender Registry Board
The Office of Grants and Research intends to award $249,233 in Federal FY 2024 Byrne Reallocation Sex Offender Registration Notification Act (SORNA) funds to the Sex Offender Registry Board (SORB). SORNA (34 U.S.C. § 20901 et seq.) was enacted to protect the public by establishing a comprehensive national system of standards for the registration and notification of convicted sex offenders.
SORB will use these grants funds to support the cost of a SORNA Coordinator as well as provide competitive funding to local police departments to conduct sex offender address verifications to confirm compliance or non-compliance with SORNA.
The estimated project period will be July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026.
