Office of Language Access (OLA) Official Designation Registration

OLA is committed to promoting meaningful language access by supporting a qualified, professional, and diverse language services workforce. The Official Designation Registration process establishes a standardized system for recognizing individuals who have successfully met established designation requirements and are qualified to provide language access services within the Commonwealth.

Registration confirms that an applicant has completed the required credentialing steps and has submitted the required documentation, demonstrated compliance with applicable certification standards, and met all eligibility requirements established by the OLA. Registered professionals may be included in official OLA registries and may be recognized as qualified to provide language access services for participating state agencies, courts, healthcare organizations, educational institutions, and other public entities in the Commonwealth, as applicable.

Purpose of registration

The Official Designation Registration process is designed to:

  • Verify an applicant's professional certification credentials.
  • Promote consistent standards of quality and professionalism.
  • Support compliance with federal and state language access requirements.
  • Increase public confidence in qualified language access professionals.
  • Maintain an accurate and current registry of certified professionals.

Applicants seeking Official Designation Registration must:

  • Complete all applicable credentialing steps.
  • Submit a completed registration application.
  • Provide all required supporting documentation.

  • Government-issued identification.
  • Documentation of education or training, when applicable.
  • Current contact information.
  • Any additional documentation requested by OLA.

Review process

Each application undergoes an administrative review to verify eligibility, certification status, and supporting documentation. Additional information may be requested if necessary to complete the review.

Applicants will be notified of the registration decision upon completion of the review process.

Maintaining registration

Registered professionals are responsible for maintaining current certification status by completing all Continuing Education requirements and ensuring that contact information remains up to date. Registrants must report any changes affecting their eligibility and comply with renewal or continuing education requirements established by the Office of Language Access.

Failure to maintain certification or comply with OLA requirements may result in suspension, expiration, or removal from the official registration.
