Prospective Court Interpreters

Interpreters looking to work with the Trial Court Office of Language Access (OLA) must understand the organization's expected ethical standards. Find out what the application process and requirements are to become a court interpreter.

The Massachusetts Trial Court’s Court Interpreter Credentialing Program credentialling guidelines were established in the Office of Language Access (“OLA”) Standards and Procedures promulgated on August 5, 2024 (“Standards and Procedures”). Pursuant to Section 5.07(F), In certain circumstances, at OLA’s discretion, any of the requirements may be waived, or additional requirements may be added. OLA is the only entity with the authority to grant state certification and credentialing for Trial Court interpreters in Massachusetts. In turn, only OLA-registered interpreters or vendors can act as interpreters in all Trial Court courtrooms and departments across the entire Commonwealth.
