Public Participation in the DCR RMP Process

DCR values public input and incorporates public comment into each Resource Management Plan (RMP) that the agency prepares. The RMP preparation process provides multiple opportunities for public participation:
  • A public meeting and comment period at the beginning of the RMP process. This provides an opportunity to help shape the plan.
  • A second public meeting and comment period once a draft RMP has been prepared. This provides an opportunity to review and comment on draft RMPs prior to their submission to the DCR Stewardship Council.
  • A Stewardship Council meeting in which RMPs are taken up for adoption. The public may offer comment on all DCR-related matters, including RMPs, at Stewardship Council meetings.

RMP public meetings are announced in The Environmental Monitor, on DCR's Public Meetings Information web page, and on park kiosks. Notices are also sent to all relevant local communities, and constituent groups.

Presentations from public meetings are made available on DCR’s Past events for DCR public meetings information web page, typically within 48 hours after the meeting. During open public comment periods, comments may be submitted via a form on the DCR Public Comments web page.
