QCML Criteria for Reinforced Concrete Pipe (M5.02.1)

Reinforced Concrete Pipe shall meet the criteria of the product’s specifications sheet, Technical Data Sheet (TDS), and Safety Data Sheet (SDS), meet the requirements specified in M5.02.1, and maintain qualification on the QCML. 

Material Properties

Reinforced Concrete Pipe must meet the requirements of Subsection M5.02.1 as well as the following material properties:

  • AASHTO M 170

Submittal and Testing Requirements

MassDOT Testing Requirements:

The following criteria must be met for Reinforced Concrete Pipe products, as part of the product submission:

  • Reinforced Concrete Pipe must me specification M5.02.1 and be tested in accordance with AASHTO M 170.
  • Steel reinforcement must be approved in accordance with the QCML criteria for steel reinforcement.
  • Mix design approval must be in accordance with the QCML criteria for concrete producers and concrete mix designs.
  • The Manufacturer must submit the Domestic Materials Self-Certification Form with the QCML Application for BABA compliance.

QCML Listing, Expiration, and Re-Qualification

The Reinforced Concrete Pipe will be listed on the MassDOT QCML. The manufacturer shall be re-qualified on an annual basis. The product shall remain on the qualified list unless one of the following occurs:

  • If the product’s technology changes.
    • If the product formulation or technology changes, the Manufacturer shall notify MassDOT RMS.
  • MassDOT RMS determines that the product no longer meets the minimum requirements.

A written request for re-qualification must be submitted to the Department at least 60 days prior to the expiration date to remain on the QCML.
