QCML Criteria for Thermoplastic White and Thermoplastic Yellow

This criteria was qualified by MassDOT as of the date posted: September 12, 2024

For a Thermoplastic material to be listed on the Qualified Construction Materials List (QCML), a product must meet the requirements of Subsections M7.01.03 of MassDOT’s Standard Specifications including all Material and Testing Requirements outlined herein.

Material Properties

The manufacturer of the Thermoplastic materials must certify that the product is in accordance with Subsections M7.01.03 of MassDOT’s Standard Specifications.

The product must be tested in accordance with AASHTO T 250 and meet the requirements of AASHTO M 249 and additional requirements listed in M7.01.03.

Submittal and Testing Requirements

MassDOT Research & Materials (RMS) shall evaluate the Independent Lab Test results. The following criteria must be met as part of the product submission:

  • Manufacturer shall provide a Certificate of Compliance (COC) to MassDOT stating that the material complies with AASHTO M 249 requirements, and tested in accordance with AASHTO T 250 and all applicable MassDOT requirements listed in M7.01.03.

Manufacturer requesting approval of Thermoplastic material shall furnish to MassDOT RMS the following:

  • Manufacturer shall submit material for testing on all Batch Numbers intended to be supplied to MassDOT. Send material to:

Product Listing, Expiration, and Re-Approval

Once approved, the Thermoplastic material supplier and approved batch numbers are listed on the QCML. The product shall remain on the approved list unless the following occurs:

  • MassDOT RMS determines that the product no longer meets the minimum requirements.
