QCML Criteria for Water-Borne Traffic Paint White and Yellow

This criteria was qualified by MassDOT as of the date posted: January 05, 2026

For a Water-Borne Traffic Paint material to be listed on the Qualified Construction Materials List (QCML), a product must meet the requirements of Subsection M7.01.04 of MassDOT's Standard Specifications including all Material and Testing Requirements outlined herein.

Material Properties

The manufacturer of the Water-Borne Traffic Paint materials must certify that the product is in accordance with AASHTO M 348 Standard Specification.

Submittal and Testing Requirements

MassDOT Research & Materials (RMS) shall evaluate the Independent Lab Test results. The following criteria must be met as part of the product submission:

  • Manufacturer shall provide a Certificate of Compliance (COC) to MassDOT stating that the material complies with AASHTO M 348 requirements, the paint complies with 40 CFR 261.24 and all applicable MassDOT requirements.

Manufacturer requesting approval of Water-Borne Traffic Paint material shall furnish to MassDOT RMS the following:

  • Manufacturer shall submit material for testing on all Batch Numbers intended to be supplied to MassDOT. Send material to:

QCML Listing, Expiration, and Re-Qualification

Once qualified, the Water-Borne Traffic Paint Manufacturer and batch numbers are listed on the QCML. The product shall remain on the qualified list unless the following occurs:

  • MassDOT RMS determines that the product no longer meets the minimum requirements.

A written request for re-qualification must be submitted to the Department at least 60 days prior to the expiration date to remain on the QCML.
