QCML Criteria for Welded Steel Wire Fabric Manufacturers

For a Welded Steel Wire Fabric Manufacturer to be listed on the Qualified Construction Materials List (QCML), a product must meet the requirements of Subsection M8.01.2 of MassDOT’s Standard Specifications including all Material and Testing Requirements outlined herein. This includes a requirement for a product to be evaluated by AASHTO Product Evaluation & Audit Solutions.

Material Properties

Welded Steel Wire Fabric shall meet the requirements of M8.01.2 as well as AASHTO M 336M/ M 336.

Submittal and Testing Requirements

AASHTO Product Evaluation & Audit Solutions Testing Requirements:

  • The following criteria must be met as part of the product submission.
    • The Welded Steel Wire Fabric facility must follow the Reinforcing Steel and Wire Work Plan under the AASHTO Product Evaluation & Audit Solutions program.
    • The Welded Steel Wire Fabric facility must undergo the AASHTO Product Evaluation & Audit Solutions annual audit and provide MassDOT RMS the audit number from the most recent audit.
    • AASHTO Product Evaluation & Audit Solutions shall find that the facility is in compliance with the Reinforcing Steel and Wire Work Plan.

QCML Listing, Expiration, and Re-Qualification

Once qualified, the Welded Steel Wire Fabric Manufacturer will be listed on the MassDOT QCML. The Manufacturer shall be re-qualified on an annual basis. The Manufacturer's facility shall remain on the qualified list unless one of the following occurs:

  • If the Welded Steel Wire Fabric Manufacturer is not audited by AASHTO Product Evaluation & Audit Solutions on the most recent audit cycle in accordance with the Reinforcing Steel and Wire Work Plan.
  • If the Manufacturer no longer meets the minimum requirements of the AASHTO Product Evaluation & Audit Solutions Reinforcing Steel and Wire Work Plan.
  • MassDOT RMS determines that the Manufacturer or their products no longer meet the minimum requirements of the Standard Specifications.

A written request for re-qualification must be submitted to the Department at least 60 days prior to the expiration date to remain on the QCML.
