DCR Pool and Waterfront Safety staff play a critical public safety role. While attentive adult supervision is the first line of defense in drowning prevention efforts, lifeguards provide an additional layer of supervision and are available to respond to emergencies.
Not everyone is ready to take a lifeguarding course.
You may need extra time to prepare for the swimming, treading and timed events required for entry into a lifeguarding course.
