The Quincy RiverWalk, part of the Neponset River Reservation, provides a 2 mile trail along the Quincy side of the Neponset River Estuary, from the Gazebo at Adams Inn to Squantum Point in DCR’s Squantum Point Park. Both of these terminuses provide spectacular views of the estuary and, in the case of Squantum Point, of the City of Boston. Further additions to the Quincy RiverWalk are still being planned (as of Sept. 2014).
The RiverWalk includes a natural beach behind the Boston Scientific facility on Commander Shea Boulevard in Quincy from which canoes and kayaks may be launched and landed. Free parking is available a few hundred feet from the launch. The Quincy RiverWalk is directly connected via the Neponset Avenue Bridge sidewalk to Pope John Paul II Park and the Neponset Greenway trail in Dorchester, which are also part of the Neponset River Reservation.
Except for DCR Squantum Point Park, the Quincy RiverWalk is built on private land with public access.
Parking for the Quincy Riverwalk is suggested in two locations.
MBTA: Take the Red Line (Braintree branch) to the North Quincy Station. Squantum Point Park is accessible from the #211 bus route.
By Car: Take US-1 South to exit 12, Rt 3A South. Continue over the Neponset Bridge onto Quincy Shore Drive and bear left on East Squantum Street. Turn left and take Victory Road into the Squantum Point parking lot.
MBTA: Take the MBTA Red Line (Braintree branch) to the North Quincy Station. Walk Newport Avenue extension north to 2 Hancock Street, approximately .6 miles.
By Car: From Boston, take I-93 south to exit 12. Merge onto Gallivan Boulevard and stay to the right to follow Hancock St/Neponset Ave. over the Neponset Ave. Bridge. Once over the bridge, stay to the right and continue to follow Hancock St. Just before the 1st traffic light take a sharp left (almost a U-turn) to stay on Hancock St. The RiverWalk will be on the right at 2 Hancock Street near the water. Limited public parking available under the bridge.
From Quincy, take Hancock Street towards Dorchester. Do not go onto the Neponset Avenue Bridge, but stay on Hancock Street to the right. The RiverWalk will be on your right at 2 Hancock Street, near the water. Limited public parking available under the bridge.
