Overview
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts operates two veterans cemeteries, the first of which was established in Agawam in 2001.
Hours
Administration Office: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM Monday – Friday Grounds Visitation: 7:00 AM – Dusk Sunday – Saturday
Parking
Free parking is available for services at the chapel and for visitors to the cemetery.

Services
Committal Services are conducted in the chapel located on the grounds of MVMC Agawam, Monday - Friday by appointment only. There are no graveside services currently available. Cemetery policies, rules, and regulations (including floral) are available at the cemetery office.
Special ceremonies are held each Memorial Day (last Monday in May) and Veterans Day (November 11)
Directions to the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial
From Boston, MA and points East:
Take the Mass. Pike west to exit 51 (Route 291 West). Upon exiting the Turnpike take a left at the lights onto Route 291 toward Springfield (approximately 4-5 miles). At the split take the exit to Route 91 South (Hartford, CT). Take 91 South to exit 3 (Agawam, Route 5). Take 1st exit right after crossing bridge. * Follow rotary on to Rte. 57. Take 2nd Main St. exit (Rte. 159 South) toward Six Flags. The Cemetery is approximately 2.1 miles down on the right.
From Albany, NY and points West:
Take the Mass. Pike east to exit 45 (West Springfield, Route 91). Take 91 south to Exit 3 (Agawam, Rte. 5). Take 1st exit right after crossing bridge. * Follow rotary on to Rte. 57. Take 2nd Main St. exit (Rte. 159 south) toward Six Flags. The Cemetery is approximately 2.1 miles down on the right.
From Hartford, CT and points South (including Bradley International Airport, Windsor Locks, CT):
Take 91 north to exit 3 (Agawam, Route 5). Take 1st exit right after crossing bridge. * Follow rotary on to Rte. 57. Take 2nd Main St. exit (Rte. 159 South) toward Six Flags. The Cemetery is approximately 2.1 miles down on the right.
From Vermont and points North:
Take 91 south to exit 3 (Agawam, Route 5). Take 1st exit right after crossing bridge. * Follow rotary on to Rte. 57. Take 2nd Main St. exit (Rte. 159 South) toward Six Flags. The Cemetery is approximately 2.1 miles down on the right.
*One short cut you may take…after crossing bridge over Connecticut River from exit 3 and taking the first exit (Agawam/Southwick), you may take sharp right at the end of the exit ramp. This will put you on River Road. Go to the end of River Road (to set of lights). The Cemetery is in front of you. If you choose this short cut, do not enter the rotary.
Restrictions
- No running, bicycling, or other recreation
- No pets except for service animals defined by the ADA as dogs that are trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities.
- No alcoholic beverages or smoking, vaping, or drug use.
- No littering, picnicking or public gatherings of a partisan nature.
- Any form of sport or recreation, including jogging and bicycle riding, is prohibited.
- Firearms and explosives are strictly prohibited on cemetery grounds unless authorized by the cemetery to conduct military honors. Hunting is also prohibited on cemetery grounds.
