Services
Committal Services are conducted in the chapel located on the grounds of MVMC by appointment only. There are no graveside services currently available. Cemetery policies, rules, and regulations (including floral) are available at the cemetery office.
Special ceremonies are held each Memorial Day (last Monday in May) and Veterans Day (November 11)
Directions
From Greenfield and points West:
Take Route 2 East, onto Route 2A/Route 202. At exit 79 continue onto Route 202 North for 9.4 miles onto Spring Street/Route 12 South turn onto Glenallen Street this is the first left after McDonalds. The Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery is 1 mile up on the right just past the Department of Public Works.
From Boston, MA and points East:
Take Route 2 East towards Gardner onto exit 90B/Route 140 towards Ashburnham/Winchendon for 9.3 miles. At the light Route 140 becomes Route 12 North follow Route 12 for 1.4 miles take the right onto Glenallen Street the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery is 1 mile up on the right just past the Department of Public Works.
Note: To avoid confusion, you will be passing two cemeteries before arriving at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
From New Hampshire and points North:
From Route 202 South from Jaffrey and Fitzwilliam or Route 119 to 202 South from Rindge, NH. Take Route 202 South into Winchendon, MA Route 202 becomes Glenallen Street. The Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery is approximately 1 mile up on the left.
Restrictions
- No running, bicycling, or other recreation
- No pets except for service animals defined by the ADA as dogs that are trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities.
- No alcoholic beverages or smoking, vaping, or drug use.
- No littering, picnicking or public gatherings of a partisan nature.
- Any form of sport or recreation, including jogging and bicycle riding, is prohibited.
- Firearms and explosives are strictly prohibited on cemetery grounds unless authorized by the cemetery to conduct military honors. Hunting is also prohibited on cemetery grounds.
