Massachusetts Hunter Education Program

Offers hunting-related courses in Massachusetts including the state mandated Basic Hunter Education course.

We are pleased to announce that with the phased reopening of Massachusetts, we have adapted our instructional model to allow for Basic Hunter Education courses to resume. These courses include an in-person field day, so sessions must remain small to adhere to public health guidelines. We appreciate your patience as we attend to the long list of interested students and work to scale up our course offerings safely.

If you want to learn to be a safe and ethical hunter or find out how to qualify for your first-ever hunting license, you're in the right place. The MassWildlife Hunter Education Program offers 6 different type of courses including Basic Hunter Education which is required if you want to purchase a hunting license for the first time.
You can find course listings by clicking the links below. You can also request to be notified about courses in your general area. All classes are free of charge and open to the public.
