EOHHS public hearing on March 12, 2018 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts
Commissioner Jeff McCue delivered DTA's fiscal year 2019 budget recommendations to the Joint Committee on Ways and Means at their second EOHHS public hearing on March 12, 2018 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Commissioner McCue’s testimony highlighted recent accomplishments at the agency and identified a number of necessary policy reforms within the TAFDC program that would simplify and streamline program rules and requirements for working families; better incentivize and support employment and employment related activities; and ease the “cliff effect” during transition to economic self-sufficiency. Department of Transitional Assistance
The Department of Transitional Assistance assists and empowers low-income individuals and families to meet their basic needs, improve their quality of life, and achieve long term economic self-sufficiency. DTA serves one in eight residents of the Commonwealth with direct economic assistance (cash benefits) and food assistance (SNAP benefits), as well as workforce training opportunities.
