The Division of Ecological Restoration (DER) is now accepting Project Inquiry/Expression of Interest calls for culvert replacement and removal projects! To schedule a call with DER staff, fill out the Project Inquiry Form before January 10th.

This is an opportunity to schedule a 30 minute call with DER staff to discuss potential culvert replacement or removal project ideas or sites. You will be asked to please provide some information on the status and location of your potential or ongoing project (or projects) ahead of the call, to allow staff to conduct a quick desktop review of the site(s) you are considering and/or answer questions before the call.

With the DER Stream Continuity Program's annual grant round anticipated in the spring, this is an opportunity to speak with DER staff ahead of that time. Anticipated grants include DER's Culvert Replacement Municipal Assistance (CRMA) Grants and Training Sites Initiative, which are for Commonwealth of Massachusetts local government units interested in replacing or removing an undersized, perched, and/or degraded culvert located in an area of high ecological value. This funding is to encourage applicants to replace aging culverts with better designed crossings that meet improved structural and environmental design standards and flood resiliency criteria. Only projects that intend to meet the goals of the Massachusetts Stream Crossing Standards are considered for funding.

To schedule a call with DER staff about your potential project idea, please visit the CRMA webpage for more information or fill out the Project Inquiry Form before January 10th
