  • Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has updated its Tenant Lead Law Notification and Property Transfer Lead Paint Notification documents to provide clearer, more comprehensive information about lead hazards, legal responsibilities, and available resources for tenants, property owners, sellers, buyers, and real estate agents. The revised documents expand educational content on the health effects of lead exposure, blood lead testing, lead hazards in the home, prevention and deleading, and include updated certification sections tailored to rental and property transfer requirements. The Tenant Lead Law Notification page explains owner disclosure requirements for pre-1978 rental housing, while the Property Transfer Lead Paint Notification page outlines disclosure and notification requirements for home sales. Both updated documents are now fillable and fully accessible, and translations into multiple languages are planned in the coming weeks.
