The Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) has added new features and security improvements to its free mobile application (app) DTA Connect. DTA Connect provides a fast self-service option for residents to apply for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and cash benefits (TAFDC/EAEDC), as well as for individuals and families to manage their benefits without having to visit a local office. More than 400,000 Commonwealth households actively utilize DTA Connect.
Beginning on February 16, 2023, users will be able to complete all the same tasks on the DTA Connect mobile app that they currently can on DTAConnect.com, the Department’s online portal. The new options on the mobile app include:
- Checking their SNAP eligibility,
- Applying for SNAP and cash benefits, and
- Completing SNAP recertifications and interim report forms.
These features build on other tools currently available, such as:
- Requesting an EBT card and tracking it by mail,
- Requesting an income verification letter, and
- Uploading and submitting documents.
To better protect account information, users on the DTA Connect mobile app will now need to log in with an email address and password. Those who already have an email address associated with their account on DTAConnect.com should log in with the same email and password on the app.
DTA has created a new website, Mass.gov/DTAConnectHelp, to help those without an account on DTAConnect.com to log in, including multilingual step-by-step instructions and a tutorial video.
DTA Connect is available on iOS and Android devices, as well as online at DTAConnect.com. Learn more about DTA Connect at Mass.gov/ContactDTA.
This update to DTA Connect’s functionality aligns with the department’s commitment to investing in technology to further improve dignified, accessible, and inclusive access to and experience with using DTA programs and services. Past initiatives include launching DTA Finder, creating the Common Application with MassHealth, and updating the Self-Service options on the Assistance Line to help make it easier to manage benefits.
