News Health licensing boards transitioning to the Department of Public Health (DPH)

Note: To date, there are no changes to the renewal process for the boards listed below. Please make every attempt to renew your license as soon as you receive the reminder letter in the mail.

On August 5, 2021, Governor Baker signed The Acts of 2021, Chapter 39 “An Act Reorganizing Certain Licensing Agencies of the Executive Department.” Accordingly, DPH will begin managing 13 new health licensing boards in fall 2022.

The following boards will transition to the DPH Bureau of Health Professions Licensure. Their future address will be Department of Public Health, 250 Washington Street, Boston, MA 02108.

Effective September 28, 2022 the following boards have transferred to DPH and will be renewing their licenses through our new Health Professions Licensing Portal.

  • Board of Registration of Dietitians and Nutritionists
  • Board of Registration of Chiropractors
  • Board of Registration of Hearing Instrument Specialists

We thank you for your patience as we undergo this important change to improve health licensing services. If your board is in Group 2 or Group 3, please continue checking this website for updated information.

Group 1: September 25, 2022

  • Board of Registration of Sanitarians
  • Board of Certification of Health Officers

Two additional boards will transition to the DPH Office of Local and Regional Health. Please see their website for details and updates related to:

As part of this transition, DPH will upgrade its electronic licensing system. This may require limited downtime, during which you won’t be able to apply for or renew your license. As such, please renew your license as soon as you receive your renewal reminder in the mail. We will share more details as the transition approaches and will make every effort to minimize the impact on your experience.
