Over 12,000 have entered the lottery to date, and residents must enter by 5 p.m. on Friday, August 14.

BOSTON - The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) is reminding residents across Massachusetts that applications remain open for the 2026 Annual Low Number Plate Lottery. Any state resident with an active passenger vehicle registration may apply through the myRMV Online Service Center until 5 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026. There is no fee to enter the lottery.

To date, over 12,000 residents from across Massachusetts have entered the lottery. This year’s lottery includes 237 low-number standard passenger license plates, including the numbers 318, 7575, 8J, 66K, V3 and L99. Winners and alternate winners will be selected electronically through a random number generator and notified by the RMV.

The lottery applies to standard white Massachusetts passenger plates and is separate from the one-time lottery previously held for commemorative 250th Anniversary plates. While there is no fee to enter, winners in the standard plate lottery will be required to pay the special plate fee in addition to the applicable standard vehicle registration fee.

For eligibility requirements, lottery rules and application information, visit the RMV website.
