- Operational Services Division
The Operational Services Division’s Public Safety and Security Category provides a wide range of homeland security and public safety products and services, covering organizations’ needs large and small. Here are a few of the items of interest to public buyers:
Tactical Robots
Technological advances are changing the way public safety workers approach a variety of challenging situations. For law enforcement, tactical robots have become more commonplace given their overall utility and their ability to reduce the risk of personal injury. These robots defuse bombs, handle hazardous materials, and conduct reconnaissance in hostile situations. Useful applications include two-way communication, under-door cameras, stair-climbing capabilities, and the ability to remotely open doors.
Drones
Similarly, drones have emerged as a transformative technology, enabling fire departments to detect hotspots and assess fire intensity using their bird’s eye-perspective and thermal imaging cameras. Drones’ high-resolution cameras and thermal sensors also assist law enforcement in missing persons cases and provide surveillance capabilities for large gatherings and other policing activities.
AEDs
Automated external defibrillators or AEDs are portable devices that may help individuals experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. A great addition to any public space, AEDs analyze the heart’s rhythm and deliver an electrical shock to help the heart re-establish an effective rhythm. AEDs are accompanied with clear instructions and are designed for easy use.
In addition to our Public Safety category options, AEDs also are offered through the MED Health and Medical Contract Category.
Digital Traffic Signs
Digital, portable traffic signs offer real-time updates as travelers navigate city and town roads. Information might include construction-zone alerts, detours, inclement weather warnings, event details, and emergency notifications. Solar-powered options afford increased flexibility and sustainability.
Workplace Safety Training
Did you know safety training was offered through this Contract Category?
Purchase a host of training modules to educate staff about workplace safety policies and practices, and ensure staff are best prepared for unexpected emergencies, such as active shooter situations.
Vape Detection Devices
Vape detection devices, often installed in bathrooms and locker rooms, help schools and other public buildings enforce no vaping policies. Vape detectors may be hard-wired or connected to WiFi. When vaping instances are detected, vape devices send an alert to designated staff via text message, email, or a central monitoring system.
