After the Bar Exam

Results of the Massachusetts bar exam are released in October and April

The Board of Bar Examiners (BBE) releases the results of the July bar exam in October and the February exam in April to all examinees by email. The email will include information about the next steps, a breakdown of the scores and the total score.  Passing examinees will be posted by name on the website per the Rules of the Supreme Judicial Court.  

Results for the July 2019 bar exam will be released by email to all examinees on October 24, 2019.

Bar Exam Statistics in Massachusetts

The statistics for the bar exam are posted on this website after results are sent to all examinees.   The statistics include the overall summary of the results and the summary by law school in Massachusetts.

July 2019 Exam: The names of all examinees who passed the written portion of the July 2019 exam will be posted on October 28, 2019 pursuant to the Rule 3:01 of the Rules of the Supreme Judicial Court after notification of the results has been sent to examinees.

Copies of essays

If a passing score on the July 2019 bar exam is not achieved, you may request copies of your essay answers by mailing a written request, including your examination seat # as indicated in the results email delivered on November 15, 2019, to:

Your request must be postmarked by November 15, 2019 and must include a bank check or money order made payable to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (not to the Board of Bar Examiners) in the amount of $25.  Personal checks are NOT accepted.  All Essays will be delivered electronically to the email address of record with your bar petition.

Copies of the MBE are unavailable.

Late requests will not be fulfilled NO EXCEPTIONS.
