After the Bar Exam

Results of the Massachusetts bar exam are released in October and April

The Board of Bar Examiners (BBE) releases the results of the July bar exam in October and the February exam in April to all examinees by email. The email will include information about the next steps, a breakdown of the scores and the total score.  Passing examinees will be posted by name on the website per the Rules of the Supreme Judicial Court.  

Bar Exam Statistics in Massachusetts

The statistics for the bar exam will be posted on this website after results are sent to all examinees.   The statistics will include the overall summary of the results and the summary by law school in Massachusetts.  See the link below for the most recent statistics.

The names of all examinees who passed the written portion of the exam will be posted on pursuant to the Rule 3:01 of the Rules of the Supreme Judicial Court after notification of the results has been sent to examinees.

Copies of essays

If a passing score on the July 2017 exam was not achieved, you may request copies of your essay answers by mailing a written request, including your examination seat # as indicated in the results email delivered on October 5, 2017, to:

Your request must be received by October 20,  2017 and must include a bank check or money order made payable to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (not to the Board of Bar Examiners) in the amount of $25.  Personal checks are NOT accepted.  All Essays will be delivered electronically to the email address of record with your bar petition.

Copies of the MBE are unavailable.

Requests received after October 20, 2017 will not be fulfilled NO EXCEPTIONS.
