Project Updates

April 1, 2021: “Phase 1” Construction Underway

Last Week, DCR and its contractors:

  • Installed erosion control along the project,
  • Transplanted and protected rare plants, and
  • Initiated our Turtle Protection Plan, including turtle training and “sweeps.”
  • Cleared trees and vegetation from the limits of work in the corridor.
  • Began grading.

Over the next two weeks, we will be demolishing the buildings at 2520A Route 6, bringing in the sub-base gravel for the trail and initial driveway from Lecount Hollow Road, and beginning demolition of the Lecount Hollow Parking Lot and Trailhead.

The full Phase 1 Project Plans are available via the link provided below.

Design plan for the Lecount Hollow Trailhead provides for a safe, family-friendly pathway through the parcel to protect trail users from parking lot traffic. (See plan pages 17 and also 32.)

At Route 6, the lot will be have some grading and landscaping, but the Trail and Trailhead will NOT be constructed to Route 6 at this time. (See plan pages 8, 23, and 36.)
