OASIS is a set of core assessment items for adult home care patients. We can derive quality-based outcome measurements from this tool.
The OASIS tool was developed for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) by the University of Colorado's Center for Health Policy Research. It's intended to be part of a comprehensive assessment process.
The automated transmission of the OASIS items is one of the conditions of participation in the Medicare and Medicaid programs for Home Health Agencies and Visiting Nurse Associations providing non-maternity, adult home care services.
