NOTICE TO OCTOBER 2020 PETITIONERS FOR ADMISSION BY EXAM
The Board of Bar Examiners will automatically report each petitioner's score on the October 2020 Remotely-Administered Exam for Admission to all jurisdictions having a reciprocal agreement with Massachusetts. Petitioners who DO NOT wish to have their scores reported to other jurisdictions may OPT OUT prior to taking the exam. Instructions for opting out and additional detailed information will be posted to the Board of Bar Examiners website (www.mass.gov/bbe) and Facebook page in the coming weeks. To be eligible for admission to a reciprocal jurisdiction under these agreements, applicants must attain a passing exam score as set by the jurisdiction to which they wish to apply, meet all other eligibility requirements for admission set by that jurisdiction, and submit an application for admission as required by the jurisdiction.
The February 2021 and July 2021 bar examinations are Uniform Bar Examinations. Score transfers must be done through the NCBE.
Admission by UBE Transfer:
Massachusetts will continue to accept Petitions for Admission by Transfer of UBE Score from persons achieving a UBE score of 270 or higher from a UBE administration in another jurisdiction. Information regarding administration of the UBE in other jurisdictions is available at www.ncbex.org.
The remote administration of the October Massachusetts exam was in response to the extraordinary circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. The BBE plans to resume the administration of the in-person Uniform Bar Exam when it is safe to do so.
