The MCSW is an independent state agency charged with reviewing the status of women and girls in Massachusetts and offering policy recommendations that would improve access to opportunities and equality for all.

Executes the Board of Higher Education's policies and day-to-day operations and coordinates the Commonwealth’s system of public higher education and its institutions. Massachusetts system of public higher education includes community colleges, state universities, and the University of Massachusetts.

The Department of Mental Health (DMH), as the State Mental Health Authority, assures and provides access to services and supports to meet the mental health needs of individuals of all ages; enabling them to live, work and participate in their communities.
