Defining outcomes: What change are we trying to create, and for whom?
Overview
To make a meaningful difference, we first need to be clear about the change we want to make, and for whom. This starts with defining what success looks like, which helps us move beyond reporting what we did or delivered, so we can focus our efforts on the results that matter.
In this session, we'll explore how to:
- Distinguish activities (what we do) and outputs (what we deliver) from outcomes
- Describe meaningful change in people’s experience, behavior, and longer-term results
- Build a simple change pathway
Note: Your confirmation email will contain a link to a brief survey. Your response will help tailor the session's content to be most valuable to you.
The Experience Research (XR) Community of Practice brings together experience researchers and anyone who conducts or supports research to learn, share, and connect. It focuses on constituent-centered research and is open to employees of state organizations.
