Overview

The Department of Public Utilities is conducting two hybrid public hearings to receive comments on proposed revisions to the Transportation Network Companies (TNC) regulations. The amended regulations will change the DPU’s Suitability Standard for TNC Drivers to promote the safe, equitable, and efficient administration of driver suitability determinations. In addition, TNC Deactivation Review, and electrification of vehicles operate by drivers. More information on the proposed regulation changes can be found below and in the DPU File Room. 

The first public hearing will take place on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. virtually over Zoom and in-person at One South Station, Third Floor, Large Hearing Room, Boston, MA 02110. For audio-only access to the hearings, attendees can dial-in at 646-558-8656 (not toll free) and then enter Meeting ID# 816 3176 5167. If you plan on providing comments, please send an email by Friday, May 29, 2026 to Zachary.caunter@mass.gov with your name, email, and mailing address. This hearing will be conducted in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Haitian Creole, and Vietnamese. To request interpretation and/or translation in an additional language, please send an email to dpu.ej@mass.gov by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. 

The second public hearing will take place on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. virtually over Zoom and in-person at the Lawrence Public Library, Sargent Auditorium, 51 Lawrence Street, Lawrence, MA 01841. For audio-only access to the hearings, attendees can dial-in at 646-558-8656 (not toll free) and then enter Meeting ID# 834 5830 1524. If you plan on providing comments, please send an email by Friday, May 29, 2026 to Zachary.caunter@mass.gov with your name, email, and mailing address. This hearing will be conducted in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Haitian Creole, and Vietnamese. To request interpretation and/or translation in an additional language, please send an email to dpu.ej@mass.gov by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026. 

Any person interested in commenting on this matter may submit written comments no later than the close of business (5:00 p.m.) on Monday, June 1, 2026.
