Overview

Online: Tuesday, October 20th 6:30pm-8pm

In-person: Tuesday, October 27th @ 6:30pm

Please note: The same information will be presented at both meetings.

The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) will present DCR Parkways Flood Resilience Adaptation Strategies to reduce flooding along Nantasket Ave and Hull Shore Drive while maintaining the parkway’s cultural, recreational, and natural features.

DCR is studying ways to reduce flooding on parkways identified as vulnerable and identifying a range of potential adaptation strategies, along with their advantages and disadvantages, to protect DCR parkways from flooding while maintaining the features and resources that make these parkways important public spaces. This meeting is to review the Nantasket Reservation Parkways report.

The strategies presented are early ideas, not final decisions. They are intended to start conversations and gather input from community stakeholders and other agencies about preferred approaches. They are not intended to result in changes to flood maps and do not represent a complete list of potential options.

The public will be invited to provide comments during the meeting, after the presentation. After the meeting, the presentation will be available for viewing on DCR’s Past events for DCR Public Meetings Information web page. DCR encourages the public to share additional feedback, with a deadline for receipt of comments by DCR of November 30th, 2026. Comments may be submitted via the DCR public comment portal. Please note that the content of comments you submit to DCR, along with your name, town, and zip code, will be posted on DCR's website. Additional contact information required when commenting, notably email address, will only be used for outreach on future updates on the subject project or property.

In addition to providing comments during or after the public meeting, members of the public are encouraged to complete the Nantasket Ave and Hull Shore Drive Survey Feedback received through the meeting, public comment period, and survey will help inform the identification of preferred strategies for further study and analysis. Once preferred strategies are identified, future phases of analysis, modeling, and design will be required to more accurately determine their effectiveness, impacts, permitting viability, and cost before moving forward to a construction project. If you have agency-related questions or concerns or would like to be added to an email list to receive DCR general or project-specific announcements, please email Mass.Parks@mass.gov or call 617-626-4973.
