The Details of Apply for a Journeyman Plumber license
What you need for Apply for a Journeyman Plumber license
In order to become a Journeyman Plumber, you'll need to complete and submit a Journeyman Plumber License Application online. Applications mailed to the board will be returned.
Complete the Journeyman Plumber Examination Application by including the following information:
- An Education Verification Form signed by an official at your school
- A Statement of Experience Form signed by your supervising master plumber
- 2x2 Passport Photo
- Criminal Offender Record Information Acknowledgement (CORI) Form. Please download this form and make sure that you get the second page notarized. CORI Form
Once your application for examination is accepted you can register to take the exam. After receiving a passing score on the exam the Board of Examiners will approve your license.
Fees for Apply for a Journeyman Plumber license
The Board of Examiners collects a non-refundable Application Fee payable to "The Commonwealth of Massachusetts".
A separate License Fee is charged to you when you pass the exam. Please be prepared to pay this fee at the test center in order to get your license. You can pay by:
- Credit card (VISA, MasterCard, American Express or Discover)
- Money order
- Cashier's check or company check (made payable to PSI Exams).

How to apply Apply for a Journeyman Plumber license
To apply online, register for an account using the Massachusetts E-Licensing and E-Permitting Portal also know as ePLACE. This will allow you to apply for licenses, make on-line payments, renew your license and update your contact information through your on-line account.
Once your application for the Journeyman Plumber Examination has been received, reviewed and approved by the Board of Examiners of Plumbers and Gas Fitters, you can register online to take the exam.

Get the Board's Approval to Take the Journeyman Plumber Exam
The Board will review your application and either approve or deny your application to take the exam. If your application is incomplete or you haven't shown the minimum education and work experience requirements, the Board will notify you by email letting you know what additional documentation is needed to complete the application and a notice explaining why your application was not approved. Incomplete applications will only be kept on file for 180 days.
You will be notified of the Board's decision by a third party testing agency called PSI Exams who will help you schedule to take your exam online or in-person at a designated testing center.
Schedule Your Journeyman Plumber Exam
Once you're approved to take the Journeyman Plumber's exam, you can register online to take the exam. You can take the exam online or in-person.
Take the Exam
You can take the exam. You will receive your score at the test site following your exam.
If you don't get a passing score, you may retake the exam within 12 months of the date your exam application was approved by the Board.
Get your license
If you pass the Journeyman Plumber Examination you can get your license by submitting a licensing fee online or in-person at the test site.
