What you need   for Apply for a Master Gas Fitter License

Master Gas Fitter License Applications must be completed online. Applications mailed to the board will be returned. 

To complete an application, enter all required information and upload the following documents: 

  • An Education Verification and Statement of Experience Form. The education verification must be signed by an official at your school. The statement of experience must also include your Journeyman Gas Fitter License information.
  • Criminal Offender Record Information Acknowledgement (CORI) Form. The second page of this form must be notarized.
  • A 2” x 2” color passport-style photo

Fees   for Apply for a Master Gas Fitter License

The Board of Examiners collects a non-refundable Application Fee.

A separate License Fee is charged to you when you pass the exam. Please be prepared to pay this fee at the test center in order to get your license. You can pay by:

  • Credit card (VISA, MasterCard, American Express or Discover)
  • Money order
  • Cashier's check or company check (made payable to PSI Exams).

Active military members, their spouses & military veterans may qualify for fee-reduction benefits under the Valor Act.

  1. Get the Board's Approval to Take the Master Gas Fitter Exam

    The Board will review your application and either approve or deny your application to take the exam. If your application is incomplete or you haven't shown the minimum education and work experience requirements, the Board will return your original application, any additional documentation to complete the application and a notice explaining why your application was not approved. Incomplete applications will be kept on file for only 180 days.

  2. Schedule Your Master Gas Fitter Exam

    If your application is approved, you will be notified of the Board's decision by a third-party testing agency called PSI Exams. Once you're approved to take the Master Gas Fitter exam, you can register online to take the exam at a test site near you.

  3. Take the Exam

    Take the exam at the test site of your choice. After your test, your scores will be available right away. 

    If you don't earn a passing score, you may retake the exam within 12 months of the date your exam application was approved by the Board.

  4. Get your license

    If you pass the Master Gas Fitter examination you can get your license by paying a licensing fee at the test site.
