What you need

If you think your criminal record information has been unlawfully accessed, disseminated, or has inaccuracies, you can file a formal complaint. 

You may file a complaint with DCJIS by selecting the link below.  DCJIS will review the following types of complaints:

  • Complaint alleging improper access to, and or dissemination of CORI;
  • Complaint alleging improper access to, and or dissemination of CJIS data;
  • Complaint alleging a violation of DCJIS regulations;
  • Complaint alleging an incorrect CORI record.

To file a complaint, you'll need:

  • Documentation of the alleged violation
  • A legible copy of government-issued identification

What to expect after filing a report.

DCJIS staff will screen your complaint to determine whether there is sufficient information to investigate the alleged violation.  You will be notified by email on complaint status and/or disposition.

Please note, complaints that do not contain sufficient information to support an alleged violation will be returned to you.

Complaints pertaining to CORI and regulatory violations will be processed in accordance with 803 CMR 2.27.

Complaints relating to CJIS violations will be processed in accordance with 803 CMR 7.13.

Inaccurate CORI complaints are reviewed in compliance with 803 CMR 2.26.
