Confidence in the Wild

Reimaging life outdoors for adults ages 55+

Older hikers cross a wooden boardwalk trail

Confidence in the Wild is an introductory outdoor access and skills program designed specifically for adults ages 55 years and older who want to connect, or reconnect, with the great outdoors. This program helps participants build practical outdoor skills, strengthen confidence, overcome barriers, and explore meaningful ways to stay engaged with DCR parks as active recreational participants, volunteers, stewards, and role models for outdoor ethics.

Confidence in the Wild creates a supportive, welcoming, and social environment where beginners can learn at their own pace and see themselves as lifelong participants in outdoor recreation and stewards of the great outdoors.

Join us for two program sessions this fall to explore fishing and birdwatching. See information and flyers below. We will also be hosting several additional sessions in Spring 2027. For more information or to be added to the email notification list for the spring Confidence in the Wild programs, contact Amy Wilmot at (508) 272-9376 or Amy.Wilmot@mass.gov
